In as much as it is difficult to find someone who will remain consistently faithful in their commitment in a relationship because of human nature and environmental challenges. The fact is that you can not get all your expectations at once. But their are some that is very important to assess from the on set because the marriage will need it as the relationship progresses.

Relational Accountability

A man who has the ability to own up his mistakes without gaslighting or deflecting. This is not about perfection but about a man who values growth enough to examine himself and engage in relational repair. There is this problem of men leaving women to source for counselling when ever there is a conflict. sometimes, some don’t even attempt visiting a counsellor with their wife because they will never accept that they got it wrong. Husband and wife should be accountable to each other to resolve conflicts. 

Vision with inclusion

 A man may have ambition, the question becomes if he envision a future that includes his wife’s voice? Many men emback into marriage with cultural definition of marriage where husband is the only active voice and final authority while the woman remains passive or women have no say. Many men miss the equity of shared purpose : every woman needs a man who sees their relationship not as a convenience, but a covenant entwined with purpose.

Consistency of Character

Beyond charm and chemistry, does the man show up the same character and attitude when eyes are not watching him?. A man who is reliable in thoughts, values and actions. Who will not easily change when hard times comes. Who is the man when the woman is not watching? . The man’s attitude towards others God and other should be able to tell you the real man, not you. Every woman desires a man who can stand out as a man when challenges comes. James 1: 6-8, For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything all from the Lord, being a double – minded man, unstable and restless in all his ways( in everything he thinks, feels, or decides).
